Frequently Asked Questions

What is Float therapy?

Float therapy involves floating (duh) in lukewarm water meant to match your body temp mixed with magnesium sulfate (aka Epsom salt). The idea behind is it that it (allegedly) helps your body enter a deep state of relaxation, so your brain can enter a place of rest and repair.

How does floating therapy works?

A significant portion of our brain's regular workload is spent responding to gravity and constant external stimulation. Our float tanks are designed to quiet that constant input, limiting environmental distractions and allowing your musculoskeletal and nervous systems to relax.

What should I expect during a floatation therapy session?

During a session, you can expect to enter a private room containing a floatation pod. You’ll be provided with instructions on how to prepare for the session, including showering beforehand to remove oils and lotions from your skin. Once ready, you’ll enter the pod, close the door (if preffered), and lie back in the warm, buoyant water. The session lasts 60 minutes, 10 minutes before end time you will be notified by the sound. So that you’ll have enough time to rinse off in the shower and remove salt residue from your skin.

Is floatation therapy safe?

Floatation therapy is considered safe for most people. The water in the floatation pod is typically shallow, and the high salt concentration prevents sinking. Additionally, the room is designed to minimize risks, including slip-resistant surfaces.

Who can benefit from floatation therapy?

Floatation therapy can benefit a wide range of both men and women, including those seeking stress relief, pain management, sleep improvement, and enhanced relaxation. It’s particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing chronic pain, anxiety, depression, or sleep disorders.

How often should I schedule floatation therapy sessions?

The frequency of sessions depends on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from regular sessions, such as once or twice per week, while others may find monthly sessions sufficient.

How clean is the water in our Floats?

How clean is the water in the float tanks?
We use advanced filtration and sanitization systems to ensure the water is extremely clean. The water is filtered down to 1 micron, which is 100 times smaller than a human hair, and is sanitized using UV light, ozone (O₃), and hydrogen peroxide.

How often is the water cleaned?
The water is cleaned continuously. Between every float session, the water passes twice through a 1-micron filter, and UV and Ozone systems sanitize it. We also perform daily checks to ensure the water is in perfect condition.

How does Epsom salt keep the water clean?
The high concentration of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) in the tanks naturally prevents bacteria from growing. The salt creates an environment where most microorganisms cannot survive.

How do I know the water is safe for me?
In addition to our filtration and sanitization systems, we strictly follow cleaning protocols and test the water daily for things like pH balance and salinity. This guarantees that the water is always safe, clean, and ready for your float.

What should I wear during a floatation therapy session?

We recommend showering before and after the session to remove oils, lotions and contaminants from your skin.

Most individuals prefer to float nude to maximize the sensory deprivation experience. However, you may wear swimwear if preferred. Note that our pods are extremely filtered to ensure cleanliness and the water is kept at skin temperature.

Can I float if I'm pregnant?

Floatation therapy is generally safe and can be beneficial during pregnancy, providing relief from physical discomfort and promoting relaxation. However, pregnant individuals with any underlying medical conditions should consult with their healthcare provider before floating.

Are there any contraindications for floatation therapy?

Floatation therapy is generally safe for most people. However, there are some contraindications to consider. These includes:

  • uncontrolled epilepsy,
  • severe skin conditions,
  • infectious diseases,
  • or recent surgeries

Individuals with these or other relating medical conditions should consult with a healthcare professional before floating.

How do I prepare for a floatation therapy session?

Before floating, we recommend avoiding caffeine and heavy meals beforehand to promote relaxation and minimize potential discomfort.

When preparing for floating during your period, take the same precautions as you would for swimming, such as using appropriate protection, maintaining hygiene, wearing comfortable swim wear.

We recommend avoiding shaving before floating. Shaving can cause irritation to the skin when entering the pod (containing Epsom salt). It’s best to shave at least a few days before floating or after taking the bath to minimize discomfort while floating.

If you wear contacts make sure you remove them before you start your session. The salt water can cause irritation to your eyes.

Make sure to use the restroom before your session to avoid any interruptions during your floating therapy session.
